???!!!  P I G  A R R O W  S O U P  ???!!!

Words and Music by -  [smells guppyish]   DON HALL  Confirmed Vocals – Bob Keislar, Justin Hess
Suspected vocals – Ray Guppy, Bundy Browne, and a local stimulant distributor
Guitar  -  Bob Keislar and probably Bundy Brown
Recorded at  - [probably Doghouse Studio]
When? - Who knows? Hsueh places it squarely in Guppy’s "no idea" period which would be 1980-81
Originally mastered on  - a used RadioShack Cassette tape, by dubbing over a five minute section, in the middle
of, a college economics lecture about credit [which is how it escaped previous attention]
Re-mastered to digital with extreme post processing to remove tape
and bias noise which still bleeds through intermittently
http://streetdogs.com/Doghouse/mp3/pigarrowsoupkeislarhessguppybrown.mp3

and who would have expected that the above hypothesis of the origins of this little audio gem is completely, and seriously flawed. It was, in fact recorded right in the middle of an economics lecture on a cheap-ass dictation tape and then left for lost but the rest apparently went a little different. How can we know? Well here's what a little fish just sent over the wire: (citified folk not used to animal genitalia may wish to pass on this one):

Says  .  .

... by the way I think Pig Arrow Soup is a song Don Hall wrote and sang with us on the fly one night at 421 Stanford. I think it is him saying "can I go now" and singing "pig harrow soup" on each verse which I believe stands for pig dick soup... I think it is Robin singing "never no more" and it sounds like Bobby Z saying "it's the house specialty". my two cents... I am definitely singing as part of the monotone harmony. I bet Robin played the guitar, too.

There are in fact TWO don halls FROM PATHS THAT BOTH GUPPIES AND DOGS TRAVERSED. the FIRST, AND EXTREMELY PROTECTIVE LAW OFFICER IN SIMPLER MORE EXPERIMENTAL TIMES - MORE ON THAT MUCH LATER. the SECOND, AND I BELIEVE THE ONE REFERENCED HERE WAS NONE OTHER THAN THE GUITARIST FOR Oklahoma's basement band FRONTED BY robin Carty WHOSE DOGHOUSE SESSIONS ARE SOON TO BE FEATURED ON THESE PAGES. MORE ON THE BOYS FROM Oklahoma SOON.
